Boys & Girls Clubs of Pueblo County Announce Winner of the
2026 Youth of the Year Competition
PUEBLO, CO (April 13, 2026) – The Champions of Youth Dinner was held March 12, 2026, at the Pueblo Convention Center. The dinner honored the 2026 Youth of the Year, Junior Youth of the Year and Kid of the Year in addition to more than 45 local youth for outstanding participation and achievements in Good Character & Leadership and Healthy Lifestyles.
Daizey R. has been named Boys & Girls Clubs of Pueblo County’s (BGCPC) 2026 Youth of the Year, she is a senior at South High School. The Youth of the Year title is a prestigious honor bestowed upon an exemplary young person in recognition of leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle.
Daizey has been a proud member of the Sprague Clubhouse for 12 years, along with more recently engaging at the Ray Aguilera Teen Center @ Central High School. She takes advantage of nearly every opportunity available. Her leadership roles include serving as a Girls Rock Volleyball Team Captain, Keystone Club President, FBLA Treasurer, and Peer Leader Intern. She shares that her experiences have shaped her into someone ready to make an impact, saying, “With a strong support system guiding me through my journey of discovery, I found my voice to stand up for myself.” Her passion, resilience, and commitment to others shine through in everything she does as she takes the next step in her journey toward competing for State Youth of the Year April 14th in Denver.
The BGCPC Youth of the Year is a comprehensive program that identifies and recognizes leadership among our members. A Youth of the Year candidate must achieve academic success, model good character and leadership, and make healthy lifestyle choices. They represent the best of the Club. Nominees complete a rigorous application process, which includes writing three essays and collecting several letters of recommendation that speak to their strengths in a variety of areas. Upon finishing their application, finalists move through an interview process before a panel of judges and must share a three-minute speech. As the winner of the local competition Daizey is eligible for either a full-ride scholarship to attend CSU Pueblo or a full‑ride scholarship to Pueblo Community College, including PCC’s associate degree pathways, trade programs, and certifications. We are deeply grateful to CSU Pueblo and PCC for their continued investment in our youth.
