AMCON Distributing Company (''AMCON'') was founded in 1981, contemporaneously with the evolution of the modern-day convenience store industry. AMCON’s original vision was to provide highly customized service to customers in the geographically large regions of the Great Plains and Rocky Mountain Region of the United States. AMCON was designed to become the modern-day supply wagon to the hardy entrepreneurs serving these former frontier regions.
To establish the enterprise, AMCON acquired many local candy and tobacco jobbers across the Northern Great Plains. These acquired businesses had one common trait: each built their business on customer service. Their loyalty to customers and faithful partnership made them each the supplier of choice in the region.
