PROJECT MANAGER
WOODS OF WONDER
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Pueblo Zoo is seeking to engage with an independent contractor to perform project management duties for the development and building of the Woods of Wonder interactive space. The Project Manager would work closely with the zoo’s Executive Director (ED) to steward the project from the planning stage through to completion. A significant amount of visioning and relationship building has already been accomplished. What is needed is a dedicated PM to further the planning process, oversee timelines and budget, contribute to design and development and act as a liaison to partners/contractors.
SCOPE OF WORK
Planning:
- Meet with ED for project orientation: Goals, history, work in progress
- Synthesize current materials into a project plan including budget, timeline for approval by ED and stakeholders
- Manage and revise project plan
- Develop and finalize design themes, decor, specific installations, landscaping and overall layout
- Update and finalize plot map and drawings for design approval and implementation (Resource: current land survey)
- Finalize and draw plans/map for placement and construction of installations, decor and landscaping in specific thematic areas (Play, Animals, Gathering)
- Identify contractors/artists and develop designs and scope of work for each
- Identify and oversee individual contractors/artists on design development and construction
- Source and purchase materials and equipment
- Schedule contractors
- Oversee construction and installation
- Develop and manage budget
- Manage timelines
- Establish project status meeting schedule, report format and approval process with ED
- Collaborate and consult with stakeholders to ensure needs and regulations are met to meet business goals, animal wellbeing and educational objectives.
SKILLS NEEDED
- Project management - it is necessary to have the ability to manage timelines, budget, reporting
- Good communication skills - it is necessary to have the ability to coordinate and schedule with contractors and report to zoo staff
- Design aesthetic and drafting capabilities - it is desirable to have the ability to visualize space and design and make rough sketches.

COMPENSATION
Not to exceed 10% of $100,000 project budget. $10,000.
Not eligible for benefits.
