
The Latino Chamber has partnered with the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade (OEDIT) to bring you the Rural Jump Start Program Workshop. The Workshop will be hosted on Thursday, February 12th at 11:00am at the Latino Chamber office.
The Rural Jump-Start Zone program (based on Senate Bills 15-282 and 21-229) is a grant and tax relief program for New Businesses and New Hires which locate in designated rural, economically distressed areas of Colorado which have created a Rural Jump-Start Zone. The program will accept new Rural Jump-Start Zones and New Businesses for tax credits through December 31, 2030. The grant portion of the program is effective through June 30, 2028.
Tax Benefits include relief from:
• 100% refund of state income taxes
• 100% refund of the state sales & use tax
• 100% relief from county and municipal business personal property tax
• 100% refund of personal state income taxes for the New Hire
Grant benefits are dependent on the business location:
• In a Rural Jump-Start Zone, businesses can receive a reimbursable matching grant up to $15,000
• If a business is also located in a Tier 1 Coal Transition Community, businesses can receive a
reimbursable matching grant up to $25,000
This program is jointly administered by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and
International Trade (OEDIT), the Colorado Economic Development Commission (EDC) and the
Colorado Department of Revenue.
The following counties have formed Rural Jump-Start zones:
Alamosa, Archuleta, Clear Creek, Conejos, Costilla, Delta, Dolores, Fremont, Garfield (excluding Carbondale), Huerfano, Kiowa, Kit Carson, Lake, La Plata, Las Animas, Lincoln, Logan, Mesa, Moffat, Montezuma, Montrose, Morgan, Otero, Phillips, Prowers, Pueblo, Rio Blanco, Rio Grande, Routt, Saguache, San Juan, Sedgwick, Washington, and Yuma
During the workshop the presenter will cover:
-a background of the program
-current Rural Jump-Start Zones
-grant and tax benefits available
-new business eligibility
-businesses currently enrolled in the program
-how to apply for the program
