Job Summary:

  • The Employment Specialist performs human resources related tasks at the professional level including but not limited to recruiting, selection and onboarding of all staff. Assists hiring managers with the hiring process and provides support to the Human Resources team.

Reports to:

  • Human Resources Manager

Supervision Exercised:

  • None


  • Associate’s degree in human resources, business, administration or related field.  

  • Two years of relevant human resources work experience.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance as required by law

Required Travel:

  • Occasional travel is required including day-to-day local travel

    • Strong interpersonal and excellent customer services skills with the ability to respond positively to difficult situations.

    • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft products including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access required.

    • A demonstrated ability to manage and organize multiple projects to meet critical deadlines.

    • Previous experience working with an HR applicant tracking and/or information system required.

    • Experience with internet sourcing required.

    • High level of skill in handling sensitive information and confidential information. 

    • A demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize work assignments and be a self-starter.

    • Experience with interpreting and applying policies and procedures.

    • Previous experience researching and solving problems. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the function and activities of this department to embrace the philosophy, mission, values and Communicate with Heart service model supported by the Board of Directors of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.

    • Adhere to the guidelines and procedures of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.

    • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel files, correspondence, meetings, telephone and or conversations, and any and all documentation generated or received by Human Resources.

    • Facilitate, disseminate and collect all employment records to include paperwork, digital documents, email and forms.

    • Process and track requisitions for open positions, status changes, job transfers, etc.

    • Verify past employment, education and licenses/certifications.

    • Schedule pre-employment drug screens.

    • Verify eligibility to work in the US by entering all I-9 information into the E-Verify system in the first three days of employment.

    • Provide information to applicants regarding application process, employment policies, organizational information and employment postings. 

    • Assists hiring managers with hiring process, employment policies, applicant screening and any other recruitment and hiring questions.

    • Enter employee information into database.

    • Prepare and distribute photo I.D.’s.

    • Assist with maintenance of federal, state and local labor postings.

    • Utilize Microsoft Office to create and edit documents and reports and Microsoft Outlook to maintain calendars and appointments.

    • Recommend changes and revisions to Human Resources policies and/or procedures.

    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $16.80 - $19.00 an hour
